RV Spring Preparation Checklist

Your RV has been sitting idle over the winter. Now the early signs of spring are here and it's time to take it out of storage and prepare the coach and chassis for this years camping season. If you're like me, you want to have some type of logical sequence to follow rather then haphazardly checking the unit out. I made a simple checklist to use so that nothing is overlooked. I prefer to do the majority of spring preparation myself. If you're more comfortable having someone else do it you can schedule an appointment with a reputable RV service center to have it done.

* Depending on how your unit was winterized it will need to be de-winterized. If you used non-toxic RV antifreeze you need to run fresh water through the entire system until all traces of antifreeze are gone. To remove it from the 12-volt water pump add water to the fresh water-holding tank, turn the pump on and open all water faucets. When the antifreeze is out of the system turn the pump off and take the water heater out of the by-pass mode (if applicable). Re-install any water filter cartridges you removed for storage.

Dvds Tv Series

* At this point I like to sanitize the water system. Make sure all of the drains are closed and drain plugs are installed. Take a quarter cup of household bleach for every fifteen gallons of water your fresh water tank holds. Mix the bleach with water into a one-gallon container and pour it into the fresh water holding tank. Fill the fresh water holding tank completely full of water. Turn the water pump on and open all faucets, run water until you smell the bleach. Close the faucets and let it sit for at least twelve hours. Drain all of the water and re-fill the tank with fresh water. Turn the pump on and open all faucets until you no longer smell bleach. It may be necessary to repeat this process to eliminate all signs of the bleach.

RV Spring Preparation Checklist

* With the water system under pressure inspect for water leaks. Check the operation of the toilet.

* Wash the unit thoroughly. This is a good time to inspect the roof and body seams, and window sealants for cracking that would allow water to get in. Consult a dealer for sealants compatible with these materials.

* Inspect the operation of the awning and clean the awning fabric as required.

* Inspect the tires for signs of dry rot. Inflate all tires to the recommended COLD tire pressure.

* Lubricate all hinges and locks with spray lubricant.

* Remove any tape or protective covering you may have put over LP gas vents to keep insects and rodents out. Check any mousetraps you may have put out. Open all doors and compartments and check for rodent intrusion and water damage.

* Inspect and clean the interior.

* Plug in any appliances that you unplugged for storage and replace any dry cell batteries you may have removed. This is a good time to put new batteries in items like smoke alarms.

* Test the operation of the carbon monoxide alarm, LP gas leak detector and smoke alarm.

* Check the fire extinguisher. Be sure it is fully charged.

* Reset any breakers you may have turned off. If you removed any fuses for storage re-install them.

* Clean or replace air conditioner filters if it wasn't done prior to storage and remove any covers that were put over air conditioners.

* Open vents and windows and air the unit out.

* If you removed the coach and chassis batteries for storage install them. Whether they were removed or not check the electrolyte levels, clean the terminals and clamps, and check the charge level in all batteries. Recharge batteries as necessary.

* Check the operation of the electric steps if applicable. Lubricate step mechanism.

* Test the operation of the hydraulic jacks if applicable. Check hydraulic fluid level.

* Test the operation of the back up camera and monitor if applicable.

* If you didn't change the oil and filters in the generator prior to storage this is a good time to do it. Inspect the generator exhaust system for damage prior to starting. Start and run the generator for two hours with at least a half rated load on it. Consult the generators owner manual for load ratings.

* Turn the generator off and plug the unit into shore power. Turn the refrigerator on in the electric mode. Allow sufficient time to cool and check for proper operation.

* Check all 12-volt interior lights and accessories.

* Test the monitor panel for proper operation.

* Check the operation of slide outs if applicable.

* Check the remaining 120-volt appliances for proper operation.

* Test the Ground Fault Interrupter (GFI) for proper operation.

* Turn the refrigerator off, leave the doors open and allow sufficient time for it to get to room temperature so it can be checked in the gas mode.

* Before I use the LP gas system I have a leak test and gas operating pressure test preformed. A qualified technician with the proper equipment should do these tests.

* After this is accomplished turn the LP gas valve on and check the operation of all LP gas appliances. Be sure the water heater is full of water before testing the water heater. If a gas appliance is not operating properly have it inspected by a qualified technician. Insects are attracted to the odorant added to LP gas and build nests that can affect the appliance from operating properly.

* If your unit was in long-term storage and you didn't change the engine oil and filter prior to storage this would be a good time to do it.

* Check all fluid levels in transmission, power steering, engine coolant, engine oil, windshield washer and brakes. Consult vehicle owners manual.

* Start the engine and check for proper readings on all gauges. Check for proper operation of dash air conditioner.

* Perform a complete chassis lubrication if it wasn't done prior to storage.

* Check the condition of windshield wiper blades and replace them if necessary.

* Check the operation of all chassis lights.

* Make sure the vehicle emissions/inspection sticker is up to date.

* In addition to this if you have a pop-up or travel trailer the wheel bearings and brakes (if equipped) should be inspected at least once annually. Inspect any canvas for dry rot and tears; inspect all hitch work and the coupler for damage. Inspect the breakaway switch and pigtail for proper operation.

Panasonic TX-P42ST50B Review

Panasonic's TX-P42ST50B is part of the Japanese electronics giant's new ST50 series for 2012 which replaces the ST30 series. These televisions offer Full HD 1080p viewing with 2D to 3D capability all housed in a sleek, slimline unit. Keep on reading folks for a review of the TXP42ST50B.

The TXP42ST50 is a feature-packed 3D plasma TV made by one on the world's leading electrical manufacturers, Panasonic. It offers excellent performance throughout and uses the recently developed 8-train speaker system technology. It also has the capability to take any 2D content and convert it into a 3D picture. It's almost like a Blu-ray player upscaling a DVD and you'll be delighted with the extra depth it gives to 2D viewing whether watching a film, sport or playing a game. The active 3D glasses you need are the TY-ER3D4 models but these are unfortunately not included with the television. Remember, this TV will function perfectly well without the glasses as a 2D set.

Dvds Tv Series

Let's take a look at the specification of the Panasonic TX-P42ST50B and some of the main features it offers. With the Smart VIERA TV facility you can surf the internet, access multimedia applications, play games, watch catch-up TV and use social network sites like Facebook and Twitter. You get a Freeview HD tuner so you can watch several high definition channels for free such as BBC HD, ITV HD and Channel 4 HD.

Panasonic TX-P42ST50B Review

It's even possible to download a VIERA Remote App free of charge for your smartphone or tablet. This enables you to move content to and from the TXP42ST50, play games or use it as a remote control. Due to the thin size and lightweight build of modern TVs, it's difficult to get a truly excellent sound quality with the bass offered by old CRT sets. However, the duel 8-train speaker system really does churn out superb, wide ranging, high quality sound.

The Panasonic TXP42ST50B has Wi-Fi built in for easy internet access and is DLNA compatible so it can connect wirelessly to your laptop or PC. From this you can view computer files on your TV and listen to music. This 3D plasma TV has 2000Hz focused field drive motion technology and a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. It's also Skype ready but you'll need to provide and connect a camera.

As you'd expect, there are a whole host of connections and inputs at the rear of the TX-P42ST50B including a quartet of HDMIs and two USBs. The HDMIs allow easy connection to other appliances like Blu-ray players, home theatre systems and HD games consoles while the USBs cater for a wireless dongle and files to be viewed like photos from a memory stick. You also get inputs for an SD memory card, composite in, component in, audio in, LAN port, digital audio out and a headphone jack.

There are going to be lot of cutting edge LED, LCD and plasma televisions released this year but it's a safe bet to say that Panasonic's new releases are certain to be up there with the best of them. The TX-P42ST50B will cost you around four figures but remember if you buy from a reputable dealer you're likely to get a free five year guarantee.

Martin Clunes - Entertainer Extraordinaire

As a keen fan of Mr. Martin Clunes, frequent effort is made to acquire as much of his published work as possible. For someone living on another continent with different media requirements, current plans include purchasing an inexpensive region free portable DVD player so that all of his DVDs published in the UK will work anywhere I go.

What's so great about Martin Clunes you may ask? Assuming you are not familiar with his work, here are some very basic details about him.

Dvds Tv Series

First of all, he is a British comedy actor and entertainer many people around the world really enjoy watching, especially women; although there may be many men who are fans too. The characters he portrays tend to resonate with a part of us that is sympathetic toward men who are somewhat socially inept but have other redeeming qualities. For example Martin is ruggedly handsome in a Nordic sort of way; quite tall, muscular, and he has a marvelous voice both rich and deep. So he is physically appealing to a wide demographic range in gender and age which is quite redeeming enough and works well in the scripts.

Martin Clunes - Entertainer Extraordinaire

There is a sad little boy living inside Doc Martin who doesn't know how to give or receive love; that is what has been revealed in the plot and Martin Clunes' acting as the lead character, Dr. Martin Ellingham. There is a neediness in his portrayal of Doc Martin that is as endearing as it is troublesome. It is why Louisa Glasson's character is attracted to him yet repelled. Louisa is in the daily company of little boys in her job as a teacher. She doesn't want an adult relationship with the little boy, but she is physically attracted to Martin. That is one tiny fragment of the many well written conflicts within the story line.

It was the loner and rather moody Doc Martin that was my first introduction to Martin Clunes. 'Doc Martin' is a British TV series focused on the lives of a few interesting "local" characters living in the fictional village of Portwenn, and filmed in the real village of Port Isaac in Cornwall, UK. Doc Martin wants to be respected as a general practitioner but he is oblivious to the normal every day social interactions that other people expect, and is used to a higher level of existence in busy London.

The Doc Martin character is a laconic loner who seems willing to keep any unfulfilled needs in a tidy box on a well dusted shelf. But in daily life with the people of Portwenn tranquility is illusive. It is a fun show to watch and hear the language, see the beauty of the surroundings, and enjoy the various plot twists and turns.

After enjoying the 'Doc Martin' series my natural curiosity led me to seek more information about Martin Clunes. It was fascinating to discover his work history on various British TV series since his first guest-star role as Lon in a 'Doctor Who' four part episode called 'Snakedance' back in 1983. You can find it online.

Mr. Clunes has worked in several hit British TV comedy series including his most famous role in the UK on the original version of 'Men Behaving Badly' where he played Gary Strang. The show ran from 1992 to 1999 and made Martin Clunes a household name in Great Britain. Gary Strang is the typical non-committal, irresponsible 30's something guy who isn't particularly interested in relationships as much as experimenting with biology, chemistry, beer and B.S.

Currently Martin is starring as Reggie Perrin in a remake of the 1970's British TV situation comedy series, 'The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin'. The first season has been released on DVD in the UK and the second season is being recorded in 2010. But never fear Doc Martin fans - a fifth series of 'Doc Martin' is scheduled for filming in 2011.

In addition to his two current hit British TV comedy series, Martin Clunes has presented some wonderful documentary programs that have tremendous mass appeal. 'Martin Clunes: Islands of Britain' is a three part series where Martin travels to several memorable islands in various parts of the United Kingdom. Each episode is under one hour yet captures the rhythm of life in three geographical areas of the British Isles. In part one Martin visits islands furthest north in Britain then travels west in part two, and concludes with islands of the south in part three.

'Martin Clunes: A Man and His Dogs' is a two part documentary that studies man's relationship with dogs. Martin travels the globe to find the origins of today's many breeds of dogs and learns a lot about his own dogs at the same time.

Known for his love of animals, Martin has completed a third documentary about man's relationship with horses. In 'Horsepower', Martin travels the world to explore man's history with horses. Horseback riding is a participatory sport for the entire Clunes family and an area of growing interest for Martin as the new president of Longines Royal International Horse Show at Hickstead.

Martin Clunes is also a movie star! You may remember him as Richard Burbage in the 1998 Academy Award Winning 'Shakespeare in Love'; or perhaps you saw his portrayal of Dr. Martin Bamford in the 2000 comedy movie 'Saving Grace'. He has starred in many made for TV movies such as the 1994 'Staggered' and 1999 'Hunting Venus' both of which he also directed. Incidentally, Hunting Venus was the first production of Buffalo Productions, Ltd. which has gone on to produce the Doc Martin series. Buffalo Productions, Ltd. is owned by Martin and his wife.

Other made for television movies (most available on DVD) starring Martin Clunes include 'Neville's Island' and 'Acid House' filmed in 1998, 'Sex 'n' Death' filmed in 1999, 'Lorna Doone' and 'Dirty Tricks' released in 2000, 'Global Heresy', 'A is for Acid', and 'Goodbye, Mr. Chips' were on in 2002, 'The Booze Cruise' and two 'Doc Martin' movies featuring Dr. Martin Bamford were in 2003, 'Beauty' in 2004, 'Losing It' in 2006 and 'The Man Who Lost His Head' in 2007.

On top of all the other accomplishments, Martin is a published author. In June 2009 he published 'A Dog's Life' about his passion for dogs and his global journey to learn about the ancestors of today's dogs. He also writes about working out problems with his own three dogs, Mary, Arthur, and Tina. One review said, "Known best as an actor, he's also an excellent raconteur and at times the book is laugh-out-loud funny."

"With his trademark warmth and humor, Martin describes meeting a worldwide cast of doggie characters, and how humans have shaped the dog world as we know it today. One thing is certain-he will never see Mary, Tina, and Arthur in quite the same way again." Says another blurb about 'A Dog's Life'.

Yes, it's that "trademark warmth and humor" that has made Martin Clunes the unforgettable, powerful and often moving performer he is today. He has moved many of us in some way whether through his acting, his documentary presentations, television appearances, or his charity work with The Born Free Foundation, Weldmar Hospicecare Trust, and his own Buckham Fair.

We may never meet the man in person but it feels like there is a lot of his own personal Martin comedy style in everything he does. There is a warm and gentle character he carries with him that is conspicuous in his genuine smiles and laughter. There are moments on film when he is himself that make him seem like a regular guy and even approachable. He comes across as a rather private happily married family man and that is more attractive than anything else about him.

It seems worth noting that Martin Clunes' growing body of work is not who he is but rather the result of his impressive work ethic, talent, planning, and passionate creative abilities combined with the empowering partnership of his wife. We only see glimpses of the real Martin Clunes in his work. Martin and his family are working behind the scenes to build a wonderful life by combining their talents, skills, and interests. We benefit from the results achieved by Buffalo Productions, Ltd and Philippa Braithwaite in partnership with Martin Clunes. Congratulations to them for many fine achievements on and off camera.

Not just another pretty face, Martin Clunes is an example of what a man can become and accomplish in the course of time in a life well lived, with a wife well loved. He is still a young man with many questions left to answer, and many roles to play. And that is at least the start of what's so great about Martin Clunes.

Who Survived at the End of Lost?

The final season of Lost was split up into two realities. One was a continuation of the main timeline from the first five seasons. This timeline is the "real world" and it's this world that this article is focused on. The other reality is the "flash sideways" which is revealed to be a kind of "purgatory" (I don't know if that's the best word for it, but it's some sort of "post life" world) at the end of the finale episode.

The "flash sideways" world occurs in a place outside of time. It happens after all of the characters die, even if they die at different times (which they obviously do.)

Dvds Tv Series

But this article is about who survived at the end of the "real world" timeline as the show ends? Who either escaped the island for good or was still alive on the island at the end?

Who Survived at the End of Lost?

Escaped The Island On The Plane

The first group of people who clearly survived were those who were on the plane flown by Frank Lapidus. Sawyer, Kate, Claire, Miles, & Richard were on the plane as passengers.

Survived On The Island

Hurley was the "new Jacob" at the end of the series (after Jack's death) with Ben as his "#2." Bernard and Rose were also still alive (avoiding drama!)

Desmond was also alive on the island at the end of the series but it is implied that he leaves to join his wife (Penny) and his son (Charlie) because Ben tells Hurley he doesn't have to do things the way Jacob did (people can leave the island.)

And I don't want to forget Vincent the dog (who so poignantly visits Jack as he's dying at the end.)

Other Survivors

Walt, Aaron, Penny, Jin & Sun's baby, and Eloise Hawking are some other characters from the show who are still alive at the end.

The Ultimate "Boy Meets World" Funny Moments Collection Video Clips. Duration : 9.98 Mins.

This is a collection of the funniest moments from the show "Boy Meets World". I grew up watching this show and I felt like composing all of its funniest moments together in a video for myself and other fans of the show. The majority of these scenes were taken from seasons six and seven, because there were so many great Eric moments in those seasons. Eric is definitely the funniest character of the show and you'll see him and his antics the most throughout this video. So here it is, The Ultimate "Boy Meets World" Funny Moments Collection. Enjoy! You can buy the complete series of Boy Meets World on Amazon: www.amazon.com Check out my Channel for some quality video game tributes. Here's a summary of the series: One of the most durable offerings of ABC's Friday night TGIF sitcom lineup, Boy Meets World premiered September 24, 1993. Set in Philadelphia, the series starred Ben Savage as Cornelius A. "Cory" Matthews, who at the outset of the program was 11 years old. Hoping to make sense of the world around him and to hack his way through the thorny thicket of "tween-age" (and later teenage) life, Cory found a kindred spirit in fellow 11-year-old Shawn Hunter (Rider Strong), who lived in a trailer camp with his combative parents. Cory himself resided in a comfortable suburban home with dad Alan (William Russ), mom Amy (Betsy Randle), footloose older brother Eric (Will Friedle) and precocious kid sister Morgan (played first by Lily Nicksay, then by Lindsay Ridgeway); near the ...

RV Battery Life Expectancy

The life expectancy of your RV batteries depends on you. How they're used, how well they're maintained, how they're discharged, how they're re-charged, and how they are stored all contribute to a batteries life span. A battery cycle is one complete discharge from 100% down to about 50% and then re-charged back to 100%.

One important factor to battery life is how deep the battery is cycled each time. If the battery is discharged to 50% everyday it will last twice as long as it would if it's cycled to 80%. Keep this in mind when you consider a battery's amp hour rating. The amp hour rating is really cut in half because you don't want to completely discharge the battery before recharging it. The life expectancy depends on how soon a discharged battery is recharged. The sooner it is recharged the better.

Dvds Tv Series

What does all of this mean to you? That depends on how you use your RV. If most of your camping is done where you're plugged into an electrical source then your main concern is just too properly maintain your deep cycle batteries. But if you really like to get away from it all and you do some serious dry-camping you'll want the highest amp hour capacities you can fit on your RV.

RV Battery Life Expectancy

Deep cycle batteries come in all different sizes. Some are designated by group size, like Group 24, 27 and 31. Basically the larger the battery the more amp hours you get. Depending on your needs and the amount of space you have available, there are several options when it comes to batteries. You can use one 12-volt Group 24 deep cycle battery that provides 70 to 85 amp hours or you can use two or more 12-volt batteries wired in parallel. Parallel wiring increases amp hours but not voltage.

If you have the room you can do what a lot of RVers do and switch from the standard 12-volt batteries to two of the larger 6-volt golf cart batteries. These pairs of 6-volt batteries need to be wired in series to produce the required 12-volts. Series wiring increases voltage but not amp hours. If this still doesn't satisfy your requirements you can build larger battery banks using four 6-volt batteries wired in series/parallel that will give you 12-volts and double your AH capacity.

Happy Camping,

I Love Lucy History Goes on Making History

I love Lucy history began in the evening of the 15 October 1951 when the USA was treated to the first episode of a television situation comedy that was to run for 179 episodes and establish the series as a perpetual favorite. On paper the "I love Lucy" show was just a story of a marriage but what a marriage, what a wife?

1950's television was awash with programmers about family and marriage and critics may have been ready to rubbish the show but from the very first showing it was a huge success and before long 40,000,000 viewers were tuning in regularly. The shows phenomenal success was largely due to the casting of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnez a real husband and wife team as the lead characters and to the team of creative writers who created the story lines which were usually wildly absurd yet still managed a type of hilarious reality.

Dvds Tv Series

The show was of its time and in it can be seen the issues and contradictions affecting lives of many Americans women at that time. Looking back at the "I love Lucy" history allows us to see the struggle for change as it was happening. Underneath the cover of the crazy antics and the quirky humour of the very attractive red headed Lucille Ball there could be detected a story line, which continued through the episodes and struck a cord with women. This is contradiction of a woman's traditional role of homemaker wife and mother and the need to be recognised as intelligent, decision-making individuals in their own right. To escape from the traditional restrictions of domesticity and to move out from the confinements of home, family and financial dependence, to have a life in which they could make choices.

I Love Lucy History Goes on Making History

These issues were very real to women in the post war 1950's and were clearly reflected in Lucy's continuous rebelliousness to become part of her husband's world. The I love Lucy history is not really a history at all. Because ever since the first showing the show has not been off the air. Somewhere in the world, as you read this, another generation is learning to love the crazy behaviour of this team. Even though the situations and the humor may not be clear to the new audiences and the clothes and sets are of another era. The humor still works and the show, which is way past its golden anniversary, has a timelessness and innocence which is a quality lost in much of today's viewing.

So as re-runs of the show continue, history continues to repeat itself and the characters have taken on lives away from the sitcom screen. So the "I love Lucy" actors and their real lives have become a source of interest. If you are real fans you can increase your knowledge of I love Lucy history by visiting Lucille Balls hometown and experiencing the unique places that commemorate the series such as the Lucy-Desi Museum, the Lucy-Desi Center Gift Shop, and the Desilu Playhouse. Then to complete your visit, don't miss the "I Love Lucy" wall murals in downtown Jamestown.

I Love Lucy History Goes on Making History

The Nigerian Movie Industry (Nollywood) - The Origin (History)

Here is an abridged version (yet richly enlightening) from one of the articles i wrote concerning this subject matter.

Film exhibition began to thrive during the Colonial era, with Glover Memorial Hall playing host to a range of memorable films viewed by "potential Nigerians", in August 1903. However, the non-availability of proper records reflecting the title of the debut film exhibited has created a lapse in the precedent stock. Notwithstanding the lacuna, the way had been paved for the exhibition of more foreign films at the Hall and other designated venues.

Dvds Tv Series

The emotionally traumatizing "Master - Servant" relationship, evident in the constant assaults, batteries, intimidation, segregation, victimization, carried out by the Colonial masters on the colonized, with darkened clouds of resentment, vengeance, thirst for freedom, giving way to splattering drops of such thoughts, instinctively projected through the colonized intermittent in-subordinate actions, began to spread amongst the blacks. The British knew they had to thread with caution if they still wanted to play "god" in their lives when films such as Tales of Manhattan, Trailer horn, Tarzan series began to stir up a revolution in the hearts of Blacks across the globe.

The Nigerian Movie Industry (Nollywood) - The Origin (History)

Aware of the lethal power of insurgency which could be unleashed through the Film medium, the British out of fear for their lives and possible loss of the Queen's sovereignty took the bull by the horn, and swiftly created a Colonial Film Censors Board (FCB) in 1933 to censor and classify films before they were released for visual consumption by the public. Following the establishment of the board, Films such as "The primitive, primitive man, Dixie, Buffalo Bill, The Keys of the Kingdom, Sleepy Town Girl were tagged 'suitable' to be watched, while Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, Clive of India, The Isle of Forgotten Sins, House of Frankenstein were considered unsuitable for viewing.

The Censor's body underwent a transformation process into the Federal Board of Film Censors (FBFC) from the aforementioned, and the laws from which the transformed body derived its powers ranged from the 1948 Cinematograph Laws of Nigeria, the Cinematograph Laws of 1963, to the 1963/64 Cinematograph Law and Regulations. The present National Film and Video Censors Board came into existence by virtue of decree, now Act 85 of 1993. The advent of Nigeria's Independence (1960) and the Republican status (1963), heralded the dawn of a new era in all sectors.

"The Yoruba Travelling Theatre Group" of the 60's and 70's can be referred to as the "Fountain Head" of movie productions in Nigeria. The veterans with great Theatrical skills and great performances took their works beyond the stage, and dove into the sea of film productions using the Celluloid format. Notable film makers on the Roll call of Honour during the Celluloid boom era of the 70's include Ola Balogun, Eddie Ugbomah, late Herbert Ogunde, Adeyemi Afolayan a.k.a Ade Love (father of Kunle Afolayan of the Irapada fame), Ladi Ladebo, Moses Adejumo, Adebayo Salami and Afolabi Adesanya.

The list of documented films produced during the 70's era and transcending somewhat into the 80's is simply astonishing and goes to show that the Movie Industry has been around much longer, contrary to the '1992 belief syndrome' most have been injected with. Such works include Kongi Harvest (1971), Alpha (1972), Bull Frog in the Sun (1974), Amadi (1975), Ajani Ogun (1975), Muzik Man (1976), Bisi, Daughter of the River (1977), Ija Ominira (1978), Aiye (1979), Kadara (1980), Jaiyesimi (1980) Efunsetan Aniwura (1981), Cry Freedom (1981),Ija Orogun (1982) Owo L'Agba (1982)

The cost of producing films in that era was financially back breaking, with Nigerians further frustrating the efforts of the filmmakers by opting to watch films of occidental and oriental origin at the Cinemas and Exhibition centres, rather than the locally produced ones. The Cowboy films were exhilarating to watch while the Chinese films paraded amongst others, the Legendary "Bruce Lee" in (Lo Wei's, The Big Boss (1971), Fist of Fury (1972), Way of the Dragon (1972), Enter the Dragon (1973), The Game of Death released in 1978) who exhibited Martial Arts dexterity, obviously a fighting technique alien, yet fascinating to us at that time.

Indian films in the late 60's and well into the 70's paraded renowned names like Rajesh Khanna, Dharmendra Singh Deol, Mumtaz, Amitabh Bachchan, Anil kapoor, Hema Malini, and produced hits such as "Bobby", "Sholay", "Kabhi Kabhi", "Dharamveer", "Amar Akbar Anthony". Their stars displayed great acting skills against the backdrop of love themes, and ear pleasing songs coupled with synchronized dance steps, produced with sound and special effects, though incomparable with what obtains today bought over the indigenes loyalty for their movies.

Thus, the Movie Founding Fathers began to face the challenges of recouping their investments, which gradually became virtually an impossible task, an anthem they constantly rendered much to the discomfort of potential financers. They counted their losses and licked their wounds sustained in the financial battle with every film they released. The deluge of VCRS in the 80's created a paradigm shift from the Cine to the VHS format, which made productions easier, faster and cheaper by a milestone in comparison to the former. Cinema houses and other Exhibition centres were finally shut down and the Baton of Cine film making slipped from the hands of the Founding founders as they attempted to hand over the movie baton to the next generation within the stipulated Baton Exchange Zone. The dream of becoming a re-nowned Movie Industry was shattered when the flow of the Film Relay cycle was broken.

Home Videos were produced which served as an alternative to the cinemas, and the name naturally stems from the fact that you could seat within the comfort of your home and watch the movies produced in the VHS format via your VCR. Film Makers capitalized on the gains of the Home Video concept offered, and began producing movies using the Yoruba language as the means of communication. However, the year "1992" has overtime been widely accepted as the triggering period of Home Video productions, with Ken Nnebue's "Living in Bondage" said to be the first movie made for commercial purposes using the Igbo/English language.

The movie no doubt struck the "Movie Well", which invoked a mass exodus of people from other spheres into the art of movie productions, having seen the opportunities that lay in the Gold mine region. Thus, did the Home Video Industry tagged "Nollywood" emerge.

The fact that "Living in Bondage" was ascribed with the honour of being the first movie made for commercial purposes and the one upon which the Home Video revolution was allegedly founded on, culminating into Nollywood, didn't go unchallenged. Late Alade Aromire before his death, ignited a controversial fire, insisting that his and not Ken's movie ought to have been conferred with such an honour. When confronted by a reporter on the issue he'd stated that Ken had produced over 40 Yoruba movies, and had started with "Aje N'yami".

There had been a flourishing movie industry before he came on board, so ken couldn't have started it.
The confusion stems from the Censors board of the day, whose hands were amputated by the Law it drew its powers from, (1963/64 Cinematograph Law and Regulations). The powers conferred on it to regulate the Industry did not extend to "Home Video". The present National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) did not exist till 1994. On this raging issue, Late Alade Armoire produced movies such as Ekun, Omije (pts 1-3), Obirin Asiko, Ayo ni o, Adun, Orire which were released to the public between 1985 and 1991.

Ken Nnebue still insists that his movie "Living in Bondage" was the first Home Video movie made for commercial purposes. His stand on the matter is rather shaky, having prior to the production of Living in Bondage sponsored commercial movies in Yoruba language such as Ina Ote, Aje N'iyami and others. Let's not forget the barrage of Yoruba TV dramas that were mass produced on VHS tapes and sold to the public before 1992. One can't fail to mention the legendary Eddie Ugbomah's movie "The Great Attempt" (1989), which would have made history as the 1st Nigerian cine movie in the video tape format to have been censored by the defunct Federal Board of Film Censors (FBFC) based on a "special concession" granted him officially by the permanent secretary of the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture at that time.

Unfortunately the strong contents projected in the movie were considered unsuitable for public viewing by the Board, hence the movie was never released. Tunde Alabi -Hundeyin's "Iyawo Alhaji" is officially on record as the first commercial (direct to exhibition hall) video film to be censored and classified by the NFVCB in 1994 at the National Theatre, (Cinema Hall) Iganmu. Despite the controversial fire raised, the global publicity given to "Living in Bondage" over the years invariably imputed the movie into our memory banks as the flag bearer of the Home Video revolution of all times. People, irrespective of Nationality, race, gender, and tribe are confronted with challenges on a daily basis. Some of these problems are of a global nature, while others are peculiar to various societies. Movies offer people the opportunity of telling their own stories, free from alien interference.

Nigerian movie producers leveraged on this and produced movies projecting our lifestyle, culture, local fashion, burning issues, problems plaguing our society, irrespective of the choking stench of tribalism perceived in all sectors. Movies were made for the viewing pleasure of Nigerians initially, (before the mass exportation craze), with messages to inspire, motivate, reprove, and correct anomalies especially in the Political, Social systems, to eschew violence and all forms of evil.

The tactical use of the English language as the communication tool, marketing strategies and execution through the use of trailers via T.V, Posters (now banned in Lagos State), recorded a boost in sales, and expanded the viewership base beyond the shores of our Nation to countries such as Ghana, Togo, South Africa, Kenya, U.S.A and even the U.K.. Unfortunately, the movies churned out at an alarming rate were technically deficient in key areas considered as germane in the production process.

The popular "shoe string budget" tag has become synonymous with the Industry's antecedent of making movies on extremely low budgets compared to other movie bodies in other countries, (- ,000 initially), but currently stretches to ,000, with a microscopic number of producers further stretching the seemingly financial limit to N 7,10,20 Million and more. The movies were and are still shot dominantly between 10-12 days, via Beta cam (now HDV cameras), were produced in the VHS format (now VCD & DVD), replicated in mass and sold by the Marketers who also doubled as Distributors.

Over a thousand movies were being churned out yearly by producers and utterly amazed by the staggering statistical data of movie productions, the International movie spotlight was shone on the Multi Million naira Industry "Nollywood". The Industry's net worth as at 2008 stood between an estimated 0 and 0 Million dollars. It is worthy of note that a Global cinema survey, conducted in 2006 by the UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS) and released sometime in May 2009, ranked Nollywood as the second largest producing movie body in the world behind Bollywood and ahead of Hollywood based on the numerical data of the movies produced.

The William Tell Overture (The Lone Ranger Theme)

Mention the song title "William Tell Overture," and a lot of people might scratch their heads in confusion. But hum a few bars, and there are few people who don't recognize this classic tune. It's so famous that it's been covered by literally hundreds of artists since its composition in the early 1800s. Modern recording artists still turn out renditions of the "William Tell Overture" today because of the public's instant connection to its familiarity.

Though everyone recognizes it, many are not aware of the history and the context from which the song originated. It was composed by Gioachino Rossini for his 39th and most famous opera, William Tell. The man on whom the opera is based is a figure surrounded by mystery and lore. William Tell, although well-known in Switzerland as a national hero, is arguably a somewhat controversial figure. Some historians debate whether the man even existed. If he did, was he really the legendary figure he has been lauded as being?

Dvds Tv Series

Regardless of such questions, school children around the world can recite the story of William Tell, the man who shoots the apple off of the head of his son with his crossbow. According to legend, Tell, who was something of a renegade, refused to bow to the statue of a contentious ruler. As punishment, he was forced to either shoot the apple, or subject both himself and his son to execution. An expert marksman, he successfully saved the life of both himself and his son with a single shot. (He reportedly said afterward that he had one arrow in reserve for his punisher, should he have failed his son.)

The William Tell Overture (The Lone Ranger Theme)

It's a grand story that is told fondly in many classrooms. But, like many legends, his has probably been embellished over the centuries, if indeed the man lived at all. Despite the questions about his life, he is still recognized as a Swiss hero. Perhaps it is this cloud of intrigue that has inspired so many artistic works based on the legend of William Tell.

The opera William Tell was based on a previous work, a play written by Friedrich Schiller. The musical version of the hero's life is a four- hour work characterized by complicated and demanding scores. Since its first public performance at the Paris Opera in 1829, it has been edited and recreated in less-demanding versions over the following centuries.

In the years after its first performance it was censored and banned by various governing authorities for its controversial glorification of a revolutionary character. As censorship often does, this tended only to fuel the public's interest even more. This may be one of the reasons the legend of this Swiss hero became so dramatically retold, embellished, and exaggerated.

The overture itself is written in four distinctive sections, with each leading seamlessly to the next. Rarely has any song without lyrics been sung so frequently. While the composer Rossini might be pleased with how his work has become so ingrained into modern culture, he may be less impressed with the reasons why. The "William Tell Overture" catapulted into popularity when it was used as the theme music for the television series "The Lone Ranger." Appearing first as a radio broadcast in 1933, followed by the television series, the "William Tell Overture" may be forever associated with the media hit. Politically incorrect though it was by today's standards, "The Lone Ranger" continues to be credited with indelibly etching the overture in the minds of popular culture.

Today the song is parodied more than any other classical song, with versions found on the CDs of modern artists and even on YouTube. It graces sporting events, and it is particularly associated with horse racing. Even those who can't identify it by name refer to it as "The Lone Ranger Song," and usually they can't help but hum or whistle along when they hear it played.

Brake Laws - Motorhome and Travel Trailer

Most U.S. States and Canadian Provinces have their own laws on the requirement for brakes on a towed trailer. The word trailer also applies to a vehicle being towed behind a motor home. These laws are normally based on the amount of weight being towed. One problem with this is that it might be legal to tow a 2,000 pound trailer with no brakes in the state where you live, but as soon as you cross the state line of a bordering state it is illegal to tow the same trailer without brakes. Add to this your insurance company may not cover you in the event of an accident involving a trailer with no braking system. Again, the most important reason is for your safety and the safety of others.

The brakes on a tow vehicle or motor home are designed by the vehicle manufacturer to stop the weight of that particular vehicle, not the additional weight being towed behind it. This additional weight adds a substantial increase to the distance required to stop safely.

Dvds Tv Series

Travel trailers and 5th wheels come equipped with electric brakes and RV dealers educate the RV consumer on the requirements for adding an electronic brake control to the tow vehicle. Some pop-ups are ordered with brakes and some without. Again, this is often times based on the braking laws for the state you live in. Keep in mind that once you cross a state line it could become illegal. My advice is if you're going to purchase a pop-up get one that has brakes.

Brake Laws - Motorhome and Travel Trailer

The real culprit for disregarding braking laws is a motor home towing a vehicle behind it. Most people assume that because of the size of the motor home there is no need for a supplemental brake system on the towed vehicle and sometimes RV dealers fail to communicate the requirement for a supplemental braking system.

I for one was guilty of towing a vehicle without a braking system for quite some time. A close call, while driving through a major city during rush hour, suddenly educated me on how important it is. Another thing that surprises people is how much the vehicle they're towing actually weighs. Take your towed vehicle to a set of scales and have it weighed. Make sure it has everything in it that will be in it when you are towing it. After you weigh it double check to make sure the receiver on the motor home is rated to tow that amount of weight and that you aren't exceeding any of the motor home weight ratings like the Gross Combined Weight Rating (GCWR). The GCWR is the maximum permissible weight of the fully loaded motor home and the fully loaded towed vehicle combined. Most RV chassis manufacturers base their GCWR on the assumption that a supplemental brake system is being used.

Regardless of the brake system that best suits your individual needs the important thing is that you have one. There are many reasons to have a braking system on your towed vehicle.

1) It's the law
2) It can void your vehicle warranty
3) It can void your insurance
4) It will reduce wear and tear on RV brakes and other components
5) Liability

But, most importantly it SAFELY reduces the stopping distance and helps to protect you, your loved ones and the safety of others.

Happy Camping!

Recovery - Part One

Recovery - Part One Video Clips. Duration : 9.92 Mins.

First part of Recovery, starring David Tennant and Sarah Parish. Uploaded for all those suffering from severe cases of Tennantitis, be it for whatever reason. ^^ All clips belong to Auntie Beeb. Enjoy! I wrestled for a bit about this one, as my paranoia doesn't want my account banned, but I figured that sharing the Tennant-Love was more important. :) Summary: In this powerful drama from BAFTA-winning writer Tony Marchant, David Tennant and Sarah Parish star as happily married couple Alan and Tricia Hamilton. He's the head of a building firm and on top of his game, and she's a part-time beautician and a mother to their two sons. One day their perfect, if unremarkable, life is torn apart when Alan steps out in front of a passing car after a last minute decision to pop out for a quick drink. The resulting accident leaves him in a deep coma but with remarkably few physical injuries. Desperately worried, Tricia is delighted when he comes round, only to discover that the man she loved has disappeared. His behaviour has changed, he's lost all of his inhibitions and he veers from angry and frustrated to vulnerable and childlike. Their relationship is put under intolerable stress as Tricia tries to find the husband she loves - while fearing that she may have lost him forever. (Borrowed from www.sarahparish.nl)

How to Find Any Niche Which You Can Dominate!

Find an Old Book and Generate Cash Endlessly.

Do you have a Niche Market that you sell goods from or consistently operate in? If not then you should give some very serious thought to looking for a niche that you can dominate and become known as a respected expert in.

Dvds Tv Series

If you become known as an expert in any particular niche market, then before very long you will have hoards of people beating a path to your door looking for expert advice and answers from you as the specialist in your particular field of endeavors.

How to Find Any Niche Which You Can Dominate!

It does not matter one iota what the Niche of your choice is, just so long as you know your subject and do your research well enough to be in a position to give professional advice and answers to the many problems that others are looking for you to help them solve in the relevant market.

Let's say for instance that you know something about diet and weight loss! By the way I personally know nothing about this extremely large niche market, other than approximately four years ago I decided that at around 14 stone weight I was getting far too large and obese for my height and age.

So I made a conscientious decision to do something about it... But that's another story, except to say though that I now only weigh around eleven and a half stone and also feel a good many degrees better healthwise. What I can pass on to you though is the fact that I did enough research on diet to help me in my quest of losing that two and a half stone of weight along with all the extra fat that my body was carrying unnecessarily.

I did this research mainly by looking in Ancient Books about diet and weightloss that I found during my searches for old books on eBay and Google. Now had I wanted to, I dare say that it would have been relatively easy to become quite an expert in this particular market niche within a reasonably short timescale.

So if you want to become an expert... and if diet and weightloss is your chosen Niche... How would you go about it in order to use the information to make money for yourself?

Well here is what I personally would do.

IN FACT THIS IS WHAT I DO whenever I want to quickly find as much information and knowledge as possible on any market niche of my choice that I believe it is possible for me to dominate and make money out of over a consistent period of time.

First of all I will go online and try to find ancient books on the chosen subject. But I don't just want any old book on the Niche... In this example remember we are using "diet and weightloss." What you would need to do is search for "Old Books" in this particular field of interest.

Either on an auction site such as eBay, or on a site like amazon, you could type in Old Diet Book or old weight loss book ans see the results that are returned. Look out for results showing works or books written prior to 1900 initially, just to be on the safe side, then narrow down your search into whatever niche you prefer your ancient book to be in. EG "DIET"

Once you have found a book that is to your liking and suitability for the market you are researching, buy this old book and study it well enough to obtain as much information as you can possibly use about your very own niche. If you want to gather even more information which you can then take and use as your own material, keep searching for similar historic books on the same subject matter.

Remember that the more knowledge you can glean from old books, then you will come over much more strongly to others as a respected expert when it comes to generating endless amounts of money in your chosen market niche.

Now you can use as much as or all of the relevant information that you have obtained in order to put into your product sales literature or advertising, whether it is online or offline and whether the product is a physical one or digital, such as another book, compact disc, DVD or tape series. You are able to do this knowing full well that you will be looked upon as a Guru in the Niche you are now dominating, purely because you have taken the time and trouble to carry out what others want to know but only dream about doing for themselves.

Most of the time they would rather leave it to you as the expert to impart your amazing wealth of knowledge to them.

The 5 Secrets of Dynamic Public Speaking

As a voice specialist, I teach people not only how to improve the sound of the speaking voice but also how to be a dynamic public speaker. Below are listed the 5 most important things you should do that will allow you to control your nervousness as well as deliver a dynamic presentation. Notice that I said control your nervousness and not eliminate it. Nervousness is excellent: it's that extra spurt of adrenaline that can truly give you the edge in public speaking. The secret, however, lies in learning how to control it, not get rid of it!

The 1st is The Intellectual. You must know your material - if that means staying up all night, so be it. Your adrenaline will get you through it and you can crash later. While I am an advocate of good rest and proper nutrition, if you are scheduled to speak, there's a good chance you won't sleep the night before anyway. By knowing your material, I'm referring to practicing it out loud. I can't tell you the number of people who come to me for a class or a session and admit to me that they 'read their presentation over' in their mind or that they perused it. Reading it over in your mind is entirely different from saying your words out loud. Your audience is there to hear you speak to them. If you plan to read it, why not copy it, pass it out, and then everyone can go home!

Dvds Tv Series

The 2nd secret is The Physical. There are a multitude of books and courses available on public speaking, but you will find very few that talk about one of the best means of controlling nervousness and that is through diaphragmatic breathing. When I work with clients as well as in my DVD series, Voicing It!, the first thing I teach is how to breathe with the support of the diaphragm, something the majority of the population are not doing. We are renowned for being lazy or shallow breathers using only the upper portion of the chest for respiration. Not only does lazy or shallow breathing increase our stress but it also means that the voice box, throat, mouth and/or nose are the primary amplifiers for the voice. By breathing with the support of the diaphragm, however, you are then able to utilize your chest as your major sounding board, your major amplifier. The result is a warmer, richer, resonant speaking voice which has the ability to be increased in volume without shouting. Breathlessness will be no more; the quiver will be gone; vocal abuse will end; and, you will discover total control over your voice and your nerves! For public speaking, it is the smartest and the best thing you can do.

The 5 Secrets of Dynamic Public Speaking

The Social secret is the ability to treat your audience just as if you were having a conversation in your living room. So often when we get up to the lectern or stand at the boardroom table, we think we should be something or someone we're not. I want you to be you. The best speakers are those who are themselves, which means making eye contact with your listeners. You will discover that you will feel more comfortable if you zoom in on your smilers (every audience has them!) than if you stare at an object on the wall or imagine that your audience is sitting in their underwear! The idea is to speak to your audience, not at them, and, that is only possible when you connect with your audience.

The 4th component is The Emotional. Speaking with life, with emotion, with expression is known as color, that which makes your delivery truly dynamic. There is no right or wrong with color except having none which is known as boring or monotoned. Color is not only heard in the voice but it is also seen in your facial expression as well as your body language. While many people are colorful in conversation, at the lectern there are those whose nervousness is so great that all color drains from their face as well as the rest of their delivery. Learning to control your nervousness means allowing yourself to be expressive.

The last secret for dynamic speaking is The Spiritual, believing in yourself. If you walk up to that lectern thinking you can't do it, how successful do think you will be? For the A-type personality, forget perfection because if you insist on being perfect you will fail. What is perfection in a live performance? Who is to say it is perfect? Truly great speakers make mistakes. Chances are you will make a mistake. Every broadcaster on radio and TV makes mistakes. It is common; it is natural; it is normal. (I'm not talking about lots of mistakes - that happens when you're not prepared.) So don't let a mistake throw you. Fix it, if need be, and move on. Forget perfection and tell yourself instead that you are going to do the best job that you can do. And then do it.

Incorporate these 5 secrets into your delivery and your success is guaranteed!
