As a runner, you often put great stresses on your body. The act of training actually damages your muscles, so that they can heal themselves stronger than before and more likely to be able to withstand the sort of punishment that you subject your muscles to on a regular basis.
The greatest healing happens at night while we are asleep and we aren't putting our muscles under further strain. If you aren't sleeping well at night, then you aren't going to recover from your workouts as easily or as quickly.

A common problem that I've noticed among the athletes I coach is that they claim they are getting a lot of sleep, but they are always really tired when they first wake up. Their sleep isn't actually restful, and what I've found is that the most common complainers are those that fall asleep in front of the television.

Marvel Anime: X-Men - Complete Series Overview
The X-Men reunite after the death of a teammate in order to track down Hisako Ichiki (Armor), a missing teenage girl in Northern Japan. There, the X-Men encounter the fanatical anti-mutant group, the U-Men, and discover what was important enough for Xavier to bring them back together. The answer is something that could potentially bridge the gap between mutants and humans, or tear the two species apart forever. If you want a good night's sleep, then please do not fall asleep in front of the television, and if you can avoid watching your TV directly before going to bed.
If you actually fall asleep in front of the television, then chances are pretty good that you are not in an optimum position for sleeping. You are probably sitting or lying on a couch with your body contorted in some fashion. This can lead to neck strain, and if the television is still on your sleep will be fitful from the outside stimulation. Bright lights and concentrating on the babble box can lead to eye strain, especially if all you do is close your eyes and snooze immediately afterwards.
Our brains aren't wired for all of that sensory stimulation before we go to sleep. We evolved in a time where we went to sleep when it got dark, and if we didn't then the brightest lights might come from the nearest fire or from the moon and stars over head.
Your brain needs some time to unwind before you let it go to sleep. It will dwell on whatever the last thing you are thinking about before going to sleep was, so if you are watching the news or a movie then you are going to keep replaying what you saw while you are trying to sleep. Instead of going straight from watching TV to laying in bed, take some time to unwind and read a book or chat with your spouse or children. This will also help you avoid eye strain when you are tired and are trying to watch the constantly flickering and changing picture on your screen.
The same problems with stimulation and eye strain can be applied to some extent for looking at a monitor in front of your computer right before bed time. If you are going to read, then nothing beats an old fashioned paper book.
You should try to make it a point to look at a magazine or read a book for 15 minutes to an hour before going to sleep. Just read until you begin to feel your eyes drooping, whereupon you can shut off the light and settle in for some restful sleep.
